FAQ

About Me

My mom is a quilter, so I have been sewing for as long as I can remember. I teach sewing and quilting, have had quilts in books and magazines, have had quilts displayed and win ribbons in quilt shows, and now I'm focusing on getting my work into people’s everyday lives. My passion is the minimal, modern look, and using upcycled materials whenever possible. When I'm not designing and sewing, you can find me painting, cooking, gardening, hiking, birding, doing yoga, crocheting, exploring my city (or whatever location I'm traveling), reading, writing, or attempting any number of other activities I feel the sudden need to try!

Studio

My studio is located in fascinating, wonderful Las Vegas, Nevada. It is a smoke-free and pet-free studio. HOWEVER, I had a beloved little dog for over 15 years (he passed in late 2022), so I cannot guarantee that there won’t be a little black or white doggy hair stuck somewhere in your piece. Andy never had direct contact with any of my supplies, but if you've ever been around a furry pet who sheds you know that those teeny hairs can waft about and end up anywhere.

Materials

I like to think of my materials as being thoughtfully sourced. As a quilter, I have a pretty massive stash of fabric from over the years; it’s only within the last several years that I’ve really taken an interest in exactly where those materials originated. In my shop pieces I will incorporate fabrics that I’ve owned for a long time so as to not waste them, new fabrics that are ethically made and sourced, as well as upcycled materials. A lot of my fabrics and supplies have been found at local yard sales and are given new life through my work. If we work together on a custom piece, I am happy to use whatever fabrics and materials make YOU happy!

Studio Recycling and Environmental Responsibility

I reuse and recycle anything and everything possible. Paper, plastic, and glass are reused to the extent possible, and then recycled through our local Las Vegas program. Fabric and batting pieces that are large enough are made into greeting cards, and all smaller scraps and thread bits are put into pillowcases that, once full, are sewn up and given to a local shelter to be used as pet beds. The materials that I use for shipping are as recycled and recyclable as I can find them.

Community

Community is so important! When I can shop and support local small businesses, I definitely do so. And it will always be a goal and personal mission of mine to support local charities and organizations here in Las Vegas, whether it's helping kids, animals, unhoused people, sex workers, or just about anything local that can be helped in a manner that I can help. If your group or organization is looking for a community quilt or a donation piece for a raffle or auction, please don't hesitate to contact me and we’ll see what we can arrange.

Product Care

While you could launder some of my more durable textile pieces in the washing machine, they contain natural fibers that will crinkle and shrink, and there is the possibility that the fabric colors will bleed or transfer. If the crinkled look is your intended look, toss in a few color catchers to be safe, and use the gentle cycle and cold water. After washing, lay the piece flat to dry. If you want to keep it crisp and looking like new, I would highly recommend spot cleaning only. If your piece arrives with or ever develops wrinkles or won’t stay flat, start with a cooler, dry iron and work your way toward hotter and even steaming if necessary.

Shipping

I'm now offering free shipping on orders over $25! Orders under $25 will be charged a flat $5 shipping fee. Shipping is done via USPS, and at this time I'm only shipping within the United States. If you are local to the Las Vegas, NV area and would like to pick up your order instead of having it shipped, select the Local Pickup option at checkout and we'll arrange for a convenient time for you to stop by for item pickup. I live in the northwest part of the valley, near Ann and Durango.

Returns/Exchanges

If for some reason you are not satisfied with your purchase, please contact me within 7 days of receipt so we may come to a happy resolution.
